Why We Always Feel the Need to Function

There are days when we manage everything.

We make decisions.

We answer messages.

We solve problems.

We carry responsibility.

From the outside, it all seems effortless.

Yet few people ask how much energy it takes to keep functioning all the time.

We cannot keep functioning forever.

Everyone needs a pause.

What that pause brings and what it means is something each of us decides for ourselves.

Sometimes we simply need a place where nothing is expected of us.

No conversation.

No performance.

No role to play.

Just for a moment.

Simply to be.

Perhaps true rest begins the moment we no longer feel the need to function.
